Amazon Aurora

Amazon Aurora is a MySQL and PostgreSQL compatible relational database that is built for the cloud. The performance and availability of enterprise databases can be combined with the simplicity and cost-effectiveness of open source databases. The security and availability of commercial databases can be provided. Amazon Aurora is five times faster than MySQL database and three times faster than PostgreSQL database. A distributed, fault-tolerant, self-healing storage system is included that auto-scales up to 128TB per database instance. High performance and availability with up to 15 low latency read replicas, timely recovery, continuous backup to Amazon S3, and replication across 3 Availability Zones (AZs) can be delivered. It is managed by Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS), which automates time consuming administration tasks such as hardware provisioning, database setup, patching, and backups.
