Biscuit, which comes from the Latin word 'bis coctus' is a 'twice baked' snack item that is hygienically packed and available at very competitive prices in different varieties and tastes. Usually, Biscuit is smaller than Cookies and may contain currents, or it could be topped with chocolate chips. Two biscuits can be pressed together with a filling of different flavored cream. Most biscuits can be dipped in tea.
Cookies are generally a little softer, chunkier, and moister than biscuits. Whole or chopped ingredients like nuts, chocolate chips, caramel chunks, raisins, smarties and much more can be incorporated in cookies because of their supple texture.
A snack is a small portion of food which is generally eaten between meals.
Biscuits are high in calories and with little nutrition. Biscuits can be classified as Sweet, Semi-Sweet, Crackers, Cookies and Speciality Biscuits as per the BIS(Bureau of Indian Standards).

- It may also contain Edible Common salt, milk powder, butter, cereals and their products, cheese cocoa, coffee extract, edible desiccated coconut, dextrose, fruit and fruits products, dry fruit and nuts, egg, edible vegetable products, gluten, groundnut flour, ginger, milk and milk products, honey, liquid glucose, malt products, flour and meals, spices and condiments, edible oilseeds, edible starches such as potato starch and edible flours, sugar and sugar products, jaggery, protein concentrates, invert sugar, oligofructose (max 15%) vinegar and other nutrients and vitamins.
- The Saturated fats in Biscuits increases the level of cholesterol in the blood, and they can increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes in large quantities.
- Glucose, fructose, sugar, dextrose, maltose, fruit juice, high-fructose corn syrup, concentrate, molasses, barley, turbinado, maple syrup, and malt are different type of sugars that have been added in biscuit. Anyone trying to improve their health and performance should avoid these added sugars.
Benefits of Snacks:
- A boost of energy can be provided by snacks if several hours pass between meals and blood glucose levels drop.
- It prevent overeating at the next meal by curbing your appetite.

- Snacks can lead to weight gain if portions or frequency of snacking is too much, as it adds excess calories.
- The risk of losing out on important nutrients increases as too much snacking can reduce hunger at meal times or cause one to skip a meal entirely.
- Regular intake of ultra-processed hyperpalatable snacks that contain added salt, sugar, and fats can lead to many health issues including obesity, heart related issue, diabetic and more as these are are low in nutrients and high in calories.
